Regulations require certain products to carry an energy label when offered for sale in Australia. All regulated products (for energy labelling or MEPS) must have their details registered with government. The technical requirements for energy labels are specified in the relevant Australian Standard and it is advisable to consult these when preparing label artwork. A copy of the proposed label must be submitted when registering a product.
The sample labels in EPS format on this page can be edited using most common advanced graphics programs to include the correct star rating, brand and model details, energy consumption and other details required on the label. The labels provided are in the colours, fonts and proportions as specified in the relevant Australian Standard. In all cases, registrants are responsible for ensuring that any labels prepared and submitted comply with the specifications in the relevant standard.
The labels are available in EPS, GIF, JPEG and TIFF files. Only the EPS files (Encapsulated Postscript format) can be edited. Basic editing instructions are included in the EPS file. You will need a vector based graphics program such Illustrator, Freehand or Corel Draw to edit the EPS files.
The GIF, JPEG and TIFF file types cannot be edited and are for use in printed or electronic material related to the energy labelling program.
The EPS label for each product listed below (which can be edited) is made up of the base label plus the relevant star arch selected from the STAR RATING ENERGY ARCH TEMPLATES file. The computer which is being used to prepare the artwork must have GILLS SANS installed for the labels to format correctly. Alternatively, other approved fonts may be used in the artwork to replace GILLS SANS in the EPS file: these fonts are HUMANIST 521 OR HAMMERSMITH.

Please Note: The links to high quality EPS and TIFF files are suitable for print purposes. Most web browsers will not display these files so you will need to right click on the link and select Save Link As... (Netscape) or Save Target As... (Internet Explorer) to download the files to your local computer. When downloading .eps files with Internet Explorer or Netscape, the file extension is automatically changed from " .eps " to " .ps ". To ensure the integrity of the file, please change the file extension back to ".eps" before saving it to your computer.
These files contains all possible star arch combinations for each star rating, which can be copied and pasted into the EPS-format energy rating label for the relevant product below.
