These energy rating labelling audits were commissioned by the National Appliance and Equipment Energy Efficiency Committee (NAEEEC) and conducted by Millward Brown. Supplementary analysis was undertaken by Energy Efficient Strategies.
Since 1998, NAEEEC has monitored the mandatory labelling of products subject to the Energy Rating Labelling Program. Audits have been undertaken to ascertain the labelling compliance of single phase airconditioners, clothes dryers, clothes washers, dishwashers and refrigerators and freezers. A summary of the overall findings of the most recent 2004 and 2005 audits are shown below
The 2004 Whitegoods audit covered 373 stores and over 35,700 appliances in metropolitan and regional areas around Australia in April 2004. Overall, 96% of products displayed the correct energy rating label, with 4% being unlabelled or displaying a redundant label (pre-2000).
The 2005 Airconditioner audit covered 100 stores and over 1,500 appliances in metropolitan Australia in February 2005. Overall, 80% of products displayed an appropriate energy rating label, with 20% being unlabelled or displaying a redundant label
These audits are comparable to earlier audits of 1998 and 2000/2001.
