Summary

This is a regulatory impact statement (RIS) proposing the introduction of minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) in Australia for incandescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and voltage converters. The RIS was prepared by Syneca Consulting on behalf of the Equipment Energy Efficiency Committee (E3 Committee).

The proposal will be implemented by introducing MEPS in order to remove the poorest performing products from the Australian marketplace from 2008.

The objective of the proposed MEPS is to contribute to cost-effective greenhouse abatement in Australia.
