State GEMS Inspectors Appointed

The GEMS Regulator has appointed two new GEMS inspectors from Victoria to monitor and enforce compliance with the GEMS Act. These appointments align with the E3 Program’s strong focus on a robust and effective compliance program.

GEMS Labelling Requirements for Retailers

GEMS inspectors recently surveyed retail stores for their compliance with GEMS labelling requirements. A number of products were found on display without the required energy rating label.  Store managers reported that the labels were sometimes removed without their knowledge by customers. The GEMS Regulator reminds store managers that products required to be labelled cannot be displayed without a label.  If a missing label is not immediately able to be replaced, the product must be removed from display while new labels are sourced from the manufacturer or supplier.
