Relevant Standards and Amendments Published
The following is a complete list of relevant standards that have been published by Standards Australia since 2002. A list of public comment drafts is provided below.
- Amendment 2 to AS/NZS 2442.2-2000: Performance of household electrical appliances—Rotary clothes dryers Part 2: Energy labelling requirements. The amendment makes some minor corrections to the text. Published 30 April 2007.
- Amendment 1 to AS/NZS 2040.1-2005: Performance of household electrical appliances - Clothes washing machines Part 1: Methods for measuring performance, energy and water consumption. Contains an updated load make Table C1 that defines revised mass for various large load items and information on likely mass loss during use. Published 30 April 2007.
- Amendment 3 to AS/NZS 6400-2005: Water efficient products—Rating and labelling. The amendment makes a range of corrections to the standard. Published 28 December 2006.
- Amendment 4 to AS/NZS 2442.1-1996: Performance of household electrical appliances—Rotary clothes dryers Part 1: Energy consumption and performance. The amendment makes some minor corrections to the text and sets the test voltage to 230V. Published 27 September 2006.
- Amendment 1 to AS/NZS 2442.2-2000: Performance of household electrical appliances—Rotary clothes dryers Part 2: Energy labelling requirements. The amendment makes some minor corrections to the text and provides an updated registration form. Published 27 September 2006.
- Amendment 2 to AS/NZS 6400-2005: Water efficient products—Rating and labelling. The amendment makes some minor corrections to the standard. Published 18 August 2006.
- Amendment 2 to AS/NZS 3823.2-2005: Performance of electrical appliances—Airconditioners and heat pumps Part 2: Energy labelling and minimum energy performance standard (MEPS) requirements. The amendment makes a minor correction to Table 3.1. Published 11 August 2006.
- Amendment 2 to AS/NZS 4782.2-2004: Double-capped fluorescent lamps—Performance specifications
Part 2: Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS). Increases the colour rendering index (CRI) from 69 to 79 as part of MEPS requirements. Published 19 July 2006.
- Amendment 1 to AS/NZS 3823.2-2005: Performance of electrical appliances - Airconditioners
and heat pumps Part 2: Energy labelling and minimum energy performance standard (MEPS) requirements. Clarifies that MEPS levels in 2006 and 2007 are mandatory for NZ. Sets out a revised energy label design that is a fixed size for all optional text variants and defines voluntary cold climate heating performance requirements. Published 23 June 2006.
- AS/NZS 4782.3-2006(int): Double-capped fluorescent lamps - Performance specifications - Procedure for quantitative analysis of mercury present in fluorescent lamps. This is an interim standard which outlines a procedure for quantitative analysis of mercury present in fluorescent lamps that are used in general lighting service and which are covered within the scope of AS/NZS 4782.1 and AS/NZS 60901. Published 23 June 2006.
- Amendment 1 to AS/NZS 6400-2005: Water efficient products—Rating and labelling. The amendment updates the foreword and a makes a range of changes required for the mandatory water efficiency labelling system. Published 29 May 2006.
- Amendment 1 to AS/NZS 4782.2-2004: Double-capped fluorescent lamps—Performance specifications
Part 2: Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS). Limits mercury content of fluorescent lamps within the scope of the standard to 15mg. Published 16 May 2006.
- Amendment 3 to AS/NZS 3823.1.1:1998: Performance of electrical appliances - Airconditioners and heat pumps Part 1.1: Non-ducted air conditioners and heat pumps - Testing and rating of performance (Amendment 3 to AS/NZS 3823.1.1:1998). Includes requirements for measurement of standby power and minor corrections. Published 24 February 2006.
- Amendment 3 to AS/NZS 3823.1.2:2001: Performance of electrical appliances - Airconditioners and heat pumps Part 1.2: Test Methods - Ducted air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps - Testing and rating of performance (Amendment 3 to AS/NZS 3823.1.2:2001). Includes requirements for measurement of standby power and minor corrections. Published 25 February 2006.
- AS/NZS 3823.2: Performance of electrical appliances - Airconditioners and heat
pumps: Part 2: Energy labelling and minimum energy performance standard (MEPS) requirements (Revision of AS/NZS 3823.2:2003). Includes new MEPS levels to be implemented from 2006 to 2008. See the Regulatory Impact Statement. The edition also includes the proposed revision to the energy labelling algorithm for 2008 and mandates reporting of standby power and power factor. Published 30 December 2005.
- AS/NZS 3823.1.3: Water-source heat pumps - Testing and rating for performance - Part 1: Water-to-air and brine-to-air heat pumps. This is a new test method for water sourced heat pumps which is based on ISO 13256-1. Published 30 December 2005.
- AS/NZS 2007.1: Performance of household electrical appliances - Dishwashers - Methods for measuring performance, energy and water consumption (Revision of AS/NZS 2007.1:2003). Includes standby power. Published 22 December 2005.
- AS/NZS 2007.2: Performance of household electrical appliances - Dishwashers - Energy efficiency labelling requirements (Revision of AS/NZS 2007.2:2003). Includes standby power and forms for mandatory water labelling. Published 22 December 2005.
- AS/NZS 2040.1: Performance of household electrical appliances - Clothes Washing Machines - Methods for measuring performance, energy and water consumption (Revision of AS/NZS 2040.1:1998). Includes standby power. Published 22 December 2005.
- AS/NZS 2040.2: Performance of household electrical appliances - Clothes Washing Machines - Energy efficiency labelling requirements (Revision of AS/NZS 2040.2:2000). Includes standby power and forms for mandatory water labelling. Published 22 December 2005.
- AS 1731 - Amendment 1: Refrigerated display cabinets. Amendments to all 14 Parts include a range of minor corrections. Published 15 December 2005.
- AS/NZS62301: Household electrical appliances - Measurement of standby power, published 16 November 2005. This standard sets out the method of test for measurement for standby power. It is based on the IEC standard of the same number (IEC 62301, Ed. 1.0 (2005), with minor non technical modifications). This standard replaces the interim standard AS/NZS62301-2003.
- AS/NZS4665.1: Performance of external power supplies - Test method and energy performance mark, published 10 November 2005. Provides a test method and efficiency mark for external power supplies. This standard is the basis for the new global standard for testing efficiency of external power supplies.
- AS/NZS4665.2: Performance of external power supplies - Minimum energy performance standard (MEPS) requirements, published 10 November 2005. The standard sets out MEPS requirements for external power supplies that will come into force for the first time on 1 April 2008 (original standard stated October 2007).
- AS/NZS4692.2: Electric water heaters Part 2: Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) requirements and energy labelling, published 14 September 2005. Regulatory standard for electric water heaters. Contains details of previous MEPS levels from 1999 and new MEPS levels for small mains pressure, vented storage and heat exchange water heaters from October 2005.
- Amendment 5 to AS 1056.1: Storage water heaters Part 1: General requirements - Amendment 4, published 19 September 2005. Modifies test procedures for heat loss to make them more reproducible.
- Amendment 1 to AS 1361: Electric heat-exchange water heaters - For domestic applications - Amendment 1, published 14 September 2005. Modifies test procedures for heat loss to make them more reproducible.

- Draft Standard DR07223 CP: Amendment 2 to AS/NZS 2040.1-2005 - Performance of household electrical appliances - Clothes washing machines Part 1: Methods for measuring performance, energy and water consumption. Contains a revised Appendix C which would allow use of the IEC load as an alternative. Comments close on 2 July 2007.
- Draft Standard DR07173CP: Revision to AS/NZS 4474.1 - Performance of household electrical appliances—
Refrigerating appliances Part 1: Energy consumption and performance (Revision of AS/NZS 4474.1:1997). Re-issue of DR0500 with changes to test method. Has new technical requirements to reduce circumvention of the standard requirements. Comments close 1 May 2007. Note that is a combined procedure with parallel voting and comment.
- Draft Standard DR07172CP: Amendment 4 to AS/NZS 4474.2 - Performance of household electrical appliances—
Refrigerating appliances Part 2: Energy labelling and minimum energy performance standard requirements. Mostly changes which are a consequence of the Part 1 revision. Re-issue of DR0501 with changes to test method with new requirements regarding anti-circumvention. Comments close 1 May 2007. Note that is a combined procedure with parallel voting and comment.
- Draft Standard DR07065: New AS/NZS standard based on ISO8960 - Refrigerators, frozen-food storage cabinets and food freezers for household and similar use - Measurement of emission of airborne acoustical noise. Clone of ISO standard. Comments close on 23 March 2007.
- Draft Standard DR07064: New AS/NZS standard based on IEC60704.3 - Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise Part 3: Procedure for determining and verifying declared noise emission values. Clone of IEC standard. Comments close on 23 March 2007.
- Draft Standard DR07063: New AS/NZS standard based on IEC60704.2.6 - Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise Part 2.6: Particular requirements for tumble dryers. Clone of IEC standard. Comments close on 23 March 2007.

- Draft Standard DR06723 CP: Amendment 1 to AS/NZS 2040.1-2005 - Performance of household electrical appliances - Clothes washing machines Part 1: Methods for measuring performance, energy and water consumption. Contains an updated load make Table C1 that defines revised mass for various large load items and information on likely mass loss during use. - Draft Standard DR06689 CP: Revision to AS/NZS 6400 - Water efficient products—Rating and labelling (Revision of AS/NZS 6400:2005). Contains a range of refinements for the Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS). Comments close on 8 December 2006, note this a combined procedure with parallel voting and comment.
- Draft Standard DR06500: Revision to AS/NZS 4474.1 - Performance of household electrical appliances—
Refrigerating appliances Part 1: Energy consumption and performance (Revision of AS/NZS 4474.1:1997). Major review of the test procedure for refrigerators. Has a number of new performance requirements, but most changes have a minor technical impact and are intended to update technical requirements for measurement and to reduce circumvention of the standard requirements. Comments close 20 October 2006.
- Draft Standard DR06501: Amendment 4 to AS/NZS 4474.2 - Performance of household electrical appliances—
Refrigerating appliances Part 2: Energy labelling and minimum energy performance standard requirements. Mostly changes which are a consequence of the Part 1 revision. Also has clarification to the scope of products which are regulated. Specifies requirements for multi-group products. Includes some minor corrections and an updated registration application form. Comments close 20 October 2006.
