External Power Supplies Determination
Consultation on proposed changes to allow for Mark VI efficiency level
The Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (External Power Supplies) Determination 2012 currently permits External Power Supplies (EPS) products to be marked only at level III, IV and V efficiency levels.
In September 2013, the US Department of Energy released Version 3.0 of the International Efficiency Marking Protocol (IEMP) for external power supplies, which set out the performance requirements for an EPS to be marked at a new higher efficiency level of ‘VI’.
In light of the updated efficiency requirements for EPS products, the Energy Rating Team is proposing to revise the current EPS Determination to reflect these international changes.
Stakeholder comment are sought in relation to the proposed changes to the current EPS Determination to ensure that it reflects the policy intention to allow products to be marked at the Mark VI level provided the product meet the performance requirements set out in the IEMP.
