Changes have been proposed to pool pump regulations to be considered by the COAG Energy Council following the Consultation Regulation Impact Statement (RIS) – Swimming Pool Pumps. These changes have been informed by industry consultation and working group meetings.

The proposed changes are contained in an update to swimming pool pump stakeholders. Changes include the:

  • method of test
  • minimum energy performance standard (MEPS) requirements
  • labelling of products
  • scope of the regulation
  • transition timeline
  • registration of products.

Stakeholders are encouraged to submit feedback to the policy paper below, along with evidence to support positions, on the proposed updates to the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) regulation on pool pumps.

Submissions will be carefully considered and included in the final Regulation Impact Statement for COAG Energy Council consideration around mid-2018.

All interested stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the policy paper by 5pm AEDT Monday 29 January 2018 via energyrating@environment.gov.au
