This Discussion Paper sets out ideas for improving the energy efficiency of new industrial equipment such as motor-driven systems, that is, electric motors connected to equipment such as pumps and fans, and gas fuelled equipment such as boilers. The paper presents a high level analysis of the issues to stimulate input from industry. Stakeholder feedback will be used to inform the development of a 10-year strategy to address the energy efficiency of new industrial equipment. It contains technical information on how industrial processing can be made more efficient, with ideas on how these can be implemented in Australia and New Zealand.
