On Tuesday 27 October 2020, an exposure draft of the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Swimming Pool Pumps) Determination was released for public comment. The exposure draft outlines proposed energy efficiency regulations that would apply to swimming pool pumps. The Determination is the first instance of energy efficiency regulations for swimming pool pumps, introducing minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and mandatory energy rating labelling.

The Commonwealth Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, on behalf of the Committee overseeing the Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Program that reports to Energy Ministers, is consulting with industry in the lead-up to releasing this Determination to regulate swimming pool pumps.

Once signed and published, the Determination would give effect to the Energy Ministers’ decision made in December 2018, to introduce energy efficiency regulations for swimming pool pumps.

The public comment period on the exposure draft of the swimming pool pump Determination is open until 5pm AEDT, Tuesday 8 December 2020. Find out more about how to submit comments.
