LED Lighting Product Profile released
With rapid changes to the LED lighting market, it is timely to consider developing minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and a number of other policy options for the technology.
The E3 Committee is considering developing MEPS for LEDs, and is seeking stakeholders’ views on a Product Profile, which outlines a number of policy options for the technology.
MEPS for LEDs have the potential to improve performance and consumer confidence, which could lead to greater uptake of these products. They could also increase the overall energy savings achieved by the transition to LEDs through removing less efficient LEDs from the market.
Public consultation sessions will be held in early September 2015, alongside consultation on the Commercial Lighting Product Profile, in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.
The closing date for submissions is 9 October 2015.
