NatHERS is looking for industry experts
The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) Administrator is seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals and organisations in the appliance and solar industries to contribute to the operation and development of NatHERS.
NatHERS is a star rating system that rates the energy efficiency of a home based on its design.
Currently, NatHERS rates only the energy efficiency of the building envelope and does not include appliances used within the home. NatHERS is being expanded to include “whole-of-home” rating tools that account for the total building energy use. This will involve modelling the energy use of space heating and cooling, hot water, cooking and plug loads, lighting, pools, as well as on-site energy generation and storage.
To support this transition, the NatHERS Administrator is actively seeking to engage individuals and organisations with expertise in the energy efficiency of fixed appliances and on-site energy generation and storage via membership in the following groups:
- NatHERS Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) – focussing on software tools
- NatHERS Stakeholder Consultative Group (SCG) – focussing on strategic direction
The NatHERS Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) provides expert advice to the Administrator on technical matters relating to NatHERS software tools and the operation of the Scheme. The TAC should consist of industry representatives and technical experts working in:
- space heating and cooling
- hot water
- solar PV
- pool heating and pumps
- NatHERS software and assessor operations
- building physics and glazing.
The NatHERS Stakeholder Consultative Group (SCG) provides stakeholder and industry feedback to the NatHERS Administrator on the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Scheme, including the development and implementation of the NatHERS Strategic Plan. The SCG should consist of representatives from building, appliance and solar industries, Assessor Accrediting Organisations, software tool developers and other stakeholders.
The current TAC and SCG are coming to the end of their two year terms and invitations are now open to individuals and organisation to submit an Expression of Interest for membership commencing in early 2020. Applications for both processes are due by Friday 31 January 2020.
