If you’re a specialist lighting retailer and you want to help your customers choose energy efficient lighting for their homes, try the free training package developed by the Department of Industry and Science.

What does the free training package include?

The package was developed in consultation with lighting experts and retailers, and includes:

  • a comprehensive manual for retailers;
  • lighting case studies (including hypothetical homes and a real-life retrofit);
  • a buyer’s guide; and
  • an LED consumer’s guide for specialist lighting retailers.

Where do I get the training package?

Download the free specialist lighting retailer training package now from the Energy Rating website, at www.energyrating.gov.au/lighting.

Why is the government providing the free training package?

Around 12% of electricity usage in homes is for lighting. The Australian Government recognises that more efficient household lighting will lead to large savings in the economy and benefit householders and the environment.

Between 2008 and 2020, efficient lighting is expected to save about 30 terawatts of electricity and 28 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. This is the same as:

  • closing down a small coal-fired power station
  • taking more than 500,000 cars off the road.

Lighting retail stores like yours are well-positioned to help customers choose efficient lighting. Play your part to help Australia save energy!
