The GEMS determinations for clothes washing machines, rotary clothes dryers and dishwashers have been recently updated and replaced. The new determinations include a variety of changes that will affect manufacturers and suppliers of the three products, as well as consumers.
10 star Energy Rating Label
The new determinations for clothes washing machines, rotary clothes dryers and dishwashers allow the maximum number of stars on the Energy Rating Label for each appliance to be 10 stars, up from the previous limit of six stars. Manufacturers and suppliers of appliances tested to the Australian Standards for energy efficiency that achieve a Star Rating Index greater than seven will have the option of utilising the new super-efficient label.
Increased load capacity for clothes washing machines
The new determinations allows manufacturers, importers and suppliers of clothes washing machines to test and label the appliances for energy efficiency at washing capacities greater than 10 kilograms.
The new determinations for clothes washing machines, rotary clothes dryers and dishwashers allows for additional label placement options when displayed in retail stores. These options include the use of single sided non-rotating swing tags, and double sided rotating swing tags.
