For Suppliers

Chillers produce cooled water that is used by building space cooling equipment. Heat is removed from a circulating cold water loop and discharged to the outside air through a cooling tower (water cooled chillers) or through an air cooled condenser (air cooled chillers).

Regulatory requirements for chillers

Chillers are subject to MEPS requirements. For more information, see the GEMS Determination:

Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Liquid-chilling Packages Using the Vapour Compression Cycle) Determination 2012

What are we working on?

Chiller energy efficiency requirements are examined in the recently published combined air conditioner and chillers consultation RIS. The public submission period for the RIS closed on  Friday 18 March 2016.
