New Determination Date for Air Conditioners above 65kW – 1 October 2022
The date for the introduction of energy efficiency requirements for air conditioners over 65 kilowatts (kW) has been postponed by six months to 1 October 2022.
Minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) for air conditioners above 65kW in capacity were set out in the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Air Conditioners above 65kW) Determination 2020 and due to come into force on 1 April 2022.
This Determination has been revoked and replaced with the new Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Air Conditioners above 65kW) Determination 2022 (the 2022 Determination), which will now come into force on 1 October 2022.
From 1 October 2022, registrants who supply or import air conditioners covered by the 2022 Determination must register all product models with the GEMS Regulator through the Energy Rating Product Registration System.
Registrants can choose to register prior to 1 October 2022 if they wish to do so.
The 2022 Determination is identical to the revoked determination, except that it has a new start date of 1 October 2022.
