Household Refrigerator and Freezer Energy Efficiency Regulation – Retailer Information

The Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Household Refrigerating Appliances) Determination 2019 (“the Determination”) will come into force on 15 August 2021. The Determination introduces more stringent minimum energy performance standards and new energy rating labelling requirements for household refrigerators and freezers.

Four replacement Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards determinations have commenced

Suppliers and retailers of clothes dryers, clothes washing machines, dishwashers and incandescent lamps must comply with new Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) determinations that commenced on 4 October 2025.
